Illinois law allows condominiums and homeowners associations to take possession from owners of units who do not pay assessments or other charges. It allows associations to collect rent from existing tenants or rent the unit and apply the rent against assessments and other charges. A new owner may only be required to pay the last six month of delinquent dues and fees.
